Crookston Police Officer Cleared In Deadly Shooting
A Crookston Police Officer has been cleared for his part in a deadly shooting at a homeless shelter last summer. You’ll remember Christopher Ray Junkin was shot and killed at the Care and Share Shelter last June 30. Police had been called to the shelter for a report of men fighting and property damage. Officers found Junkin naked on the building’s third floor. Police and witnesses say Junkin ran at officers and threw things at them…even though he had been tased three times. When Police ran out of taser cartridges, Officer Nick Fladland shot Junkin. The Crow Wing County Attorney found Officer Fladland’s shooting was justified and there won’t be criminal charges against Fladland.
