The Hillsboro City Commission met in regular session Monday.

Commissioner, and Traill County Sheriff’s Deputy, Jason Pholkamp reported that, after a couple recent hires, the sheriff’s office is at full staff.

Auditor Casey Eggermont informed the commission that the city’s 2023 audit is complete and her office has begun the transition to the new software system agreed on last year.

Approved action items included formal consent to East Central Regional Water District to include a shared wall in the planning for their water treatment plant. No other agreements have been made at this time between the city and the water district regarding a proposed water treatment plant aimed at assisting the incoming Riverview Dairy operation and other communities, including Halstad.

The commission also approved the final funds request for the recent force main and water main replacement project. The amount was approximately $36,000, which comes out of grant funds awarded to the city. The commission also approved a personal property tax exemption on a new home build and a lease agreement and conflict waiver with Hillsboro Fire and Rescue.

City staff also remind residents that their office will be closed on Monday, February 17th for President’s Day. With the holiday, the commission’s next meeting will be Tuesday, February 18th.
