Aitkin County Board approves Economic Development Grants, hears from Long Lake Conservation Center at June 14th meeting
(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners heard from the Long Lake Conservation Center, awarded Economic Development grants, and reviewed adjustments from Human Resources during their regular meeting on Tuesday, June 14th from the Government Center Board Room.
The Board took time to thank District 10B State Representative Dale Lueck, who will not be seeking re-election. Lueck looked back at his time serving on the Board and the projects that come through over the years.
Long Lake Conservation Center Manager Dave McMillan gave his update which included news on grant funding going toward scholarships for area students.
McMillan also talked about the LLCC Foundation “Nature Rocks” show on July 15th with the group Gear Daddies performing.
Land Commissioner Dennis Thompson spoke to Commissioners on the work on the new ATV trail along the east side of Mille Lacs Lake.
The Board also approved the purchase of an ATV with tracks for grooming trails from Willey’s Marine in McGregor.
Economic Development Coordinator Mark Jeffers presented to the Board a Fiscal Recovery Funds request for $100,000 to administer a Community Grant Program.
The request was approved, as well as awarding Child Care Facilities and Business Development & Recreations grants to those who applied, and to submit the Redevelopment Grant of $300,000 with Forgotten Heroes Ranges & Retreat.
Approval was given for Human Services to the 2022 Open Range Scale for MOAs, Resolutions, LLCC Scale, and updated Job Classification Investigator-Police Sergeant, and ratified LELS 2021-2023 Agreement.
The Board did approve resolutions including Community Corrections Sobriety Court Grant Renewal, a donation from Turner Township to the Search & Rescue group, Temporary On-Sale Liquor License for the Aitkin Fire Department Relief Association, grants for the Minnesota Board & Water Safety and Minnesota Federal Supplemental Boating Safety Patrol, and the On, Off, and Sunday Sale Liquor License for The Sandy Beaver.
The Aitkin County Board is next scheduled to meet on Tuesday, June 28th at 9am from the Aitkin County Government Center Board Room.
