Mahnomen Health Center Looking Securing Financing to Move Forward with New Nursing Home Build
Mahnomen, MN — Despite no support from the Minnesota Legislature, or at least not yet, for their proposed new hospital project, the Mahnomen Health Center along with their partners with the City of Mahnomen and Mahnomen County are planning to still move forward with at least the first phase of the project. The project had $16 million in funding waiting for them in the form of a bonding bill, but the bill was never passed during the regular session and a special session remains unlikely. Now with costs going up and the risk of losing other funding sources, Mahnomen County Administrator CJ Holl says they are working on financing plan to begin construction on a new nursing home.
Unfortunately, there is an added cost to waiting. The original cost estimate for the complete project, including the nursing home and hospital, was around $32 million. Now due to inflation and rising price of materials, the new cost estimate is $41 million.
