ADA, MN—There are a great many people who want your identity—so they can rip you off. Christopher Tangen, executive vice president and chief technology officer at Mid-Minnesota Federal Credit Union, says the elderly are a big target area.

Tangen says there are several things scam artists will ask you that should raise a red flag.

Tangen says con artists aren’t just using phone calls and e-mails to separate you from your money. They’re now sending text messages in hope that you’ll click on them and provide a gateway to your personal information.
