American Federal Bank in Ada will close at 1pm today.
Libraries in Ada, Twin Valley, Bagley, Frazee, and Barnesville will be closed on Thursday, December 15 due to weather conditions.
Twin Valley City Hall will close at Noon today. Public Works asks that all vehicles be removed off the streets for plowing.
The City of Mahnomen tree lighting, caroling, events at the Mahnomen Firehall have been rescheduled to Tuesday. December 20th.
Al’s Disposal will be finishing up the garbage pickup schedule in Ada—- due to the weather… they will not be picking up garbage for today’s regular route in Gary or the rural Ada area. Weather permitting, they will do the Gary and Rural Ada routes tomorrow. If you have questions, please contact Al’s Disposal, 218-784-4090.
In order to keep our staff and community members safe and to provide the
best services to you, The City of Ada, Ada Public Works Director, and Mayor
of Ada have officially declared the City of Ada in a Snow Emergency. What
this means is that all vehicles must be off the street within 12 hours of
declaration. Our plows plan to head out at midnight tonight to clear
streets. Please see the full ordinance below
Ordinance 276 Winter Parking-
Snow emergency shall mean the condition or conditions in existence as
determined by the following criteria:
(1)Snow accumulation or anticipated accumulation of two inches or more.
(2)Drifting of snow that causes problems for travel.
(3)Icy conditions which adversely affect travel.
(4)Time of snow fall in relationship to heavy use of the streets.
(c)Authority to declare emergency. The public works director shall have the
authority to declare a snow emergency when conditions in the City of Ada are
such that any of the criteria referred to in subsection (b) under “snow
emergency” have been met.
(d)Parking during snow emergency.
(1)No motor vehicle shall be parked on a public street in the City of Ada
for a period of 24 hours after a snow emergency has been declared or until
the street has been completely plowed.
(2)The business district as defined in subsection (b) shall be exempted from
the provisions of the preceding paragraph. There shall be no parking on
public streets in the business district during the hours of 1:00 a.m. to
6:00 a.m. on any day from November 1 to the following April 1, except for
the parking restrictions for East Fourth Avenue from East Main Street to
Second Street East which shall be from 1:00 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. from November
1 to the following April 1.
(3)No parking shall be allowed in areas in which parking is restricted as
indicated by signage placed there by the public works department during snow
removal activities.
(e)Towing. Any vehicle parked in violation of any provision of this
ordinance, 12 hours after the declaration of a snow emergency may be towed
away. The owner of the vehicle shall be responsible for all towing expenses.
The vehicle shall not be released until payment of said expenses.
(f)Penalties. A violation of this ordinance shall constitute a petty
misdemeanor which shall be punishable by a fine up to the maximum amount set
by state law for a petty misdemeanor.
Twisted Sisters Pub 21 in Ada closing at 2pm today
All Lake Agassiz Regional Library locations will be closed at or before 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 15 due to weather conditions.
The closures will follow the schedule – Locations in Detroit Lakes, Cormorant, Fertile, Lake Park, McIntosh, Halstad, Climax and Gonvick are closed as of 12:30 p.m.
The Mahnomen Public Library will close at 1 p.m. and the Crookston and Fosston libraries will close at 2 p.m.
Tri Valley Transportation THE BUS will be shutting down today at 3pm
Laughing Earth Gardens in Ada will be closed today – open again on Saturday 10am to 3pm
City of Mahnomen Snow Emergency
Please move your cars off of all city streets immediately!
§ 71.04 DECLARATION OF SNOW EMERGENCY; PARKING PROHIBITED.(A) The Mayor, Police Chief or other designated official may declare a snow emergency in the city. The emergency shall continue in effect for a period of 24 hours or until the snow has been removed from the city’s streets or until the snow emergency has been rescinded by action of the Mayor, Police Chief or other designated officer.
(B) Notice of the declaration of a snow emergency shall be given by notifying the local news media; however, the notification shall be a service aid only and not a duty on the part of the officials.
(C) During a declared snow emergency or after three inches or more of snow have accumulated, no motor vehicle shall be left parked on any street or public way in the city until the declared emergency is canceled or, if no emergency is declared, until the street is cleared on both sides of accumulated snow.
