Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine closing its doors

Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine has notified its residents and staff that they would no longer operate its skilled nursing facility as they will close on June 12, 2023. Resident transition teams are working with the families of the residents to guide them through the relocation process. Pioneer Memorial Care Center has been a part of the Erskine community for 73 years and currently provides care services for 29 residents and their families along with caregiving jobs for over 65 staff who live in the area. Board Chair Nancy Jenson indicated that a number of factors including ongoing staffing challenges, a decline in the number of residents at the location and increased operating costs led to the situation. Residents and staff were notified of the closing on Thursday, April 13th.
