Fireplace Safety Is Fire Safety

National Fire Prevention Week may be over, but we have one more tip to pass along.  Ada Fire Chief Steve Petry says this reminder is especially timely considering the cooler temperatures.

Petry says another issue that comes up this time of year is sewer gas…unusual odors coming from your drains.  He suggests running water down the drain and making sure the drains are moist so the sewer gases don’t come up.  Sewer gas isn’t toxic at low levels, but higher levels of that gas can be harmful.
