Update on Becker County Hay Pile Fire

On Wednesday, November 15th at approximately 12:22 pm, the Becker County Sheriff’s Office received a report of multiple hay piles on fire on County Highway 9 south of County Highway 14. Fire crews were on the scent throughout the night and have now cleared. Smoke from this fire may be ongoing for several weeks, and at times, may cause visibility issues for travelers. Please be cautious when traveling in this area. The Lake Park Fire Department was assisted by fire departments from Audubon, Callaway, Hawley, Hitterdal, Detroit Lakes, Frazee, Glyndon, Carsonville, Vergas, Pelican Rapids, Perham, Wolf Lake, Ogema, and the Minnesota DNR. Also assisting with the fire scene was the Lake Park Police Department, Lake Park ALERT, Essentia-St. Mary’s EMS and Becker County Sheriff’s Office and Becker County Emergency Management. Several private contractors provided equipment for fire containment, and a neighbor provided food for all assisting with the scene.
