Aitkin County approves Board Chair, Vice Chair at first 2022 meeting

(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners Tuesday held their first meeting of 2022 to elect a new Board Chair and Vice from the Government Center Board Room.

The Board approved to reappoint Commissioner Mark Wedel as Board Chair and Commissioner Anne Marcotte as Vice Chair for 2022.

CFO Kathleen Ryan spoke to the Board on the purchasing of Electronic Poll Pads for the purpose of Election voting.

The request was approved. County Administrator Jessica Seibert filled in the Environmental Services Director Andrew Carlstrom on the application for the Greater Minnesota Recycling and Composting Grant.

The Board approved to apply for the grant and rescheduled the Chronic Wasting Disease/Cervid Farms Public Hearing for January 25th at 10am after the Board meets with Health and Human Services. Administrator Seibert did update Commissioners on small changes to the 2022 Meeting Procedures.

The Aitkin Independent Age was designated as the Official County Newspaper, and approved the Committee Appointments, the Board meeting dates for the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month, and the minimum Elected Officials salaries.

Approval was given by the Board for reaffirming the annual Code of Ethics, a Joint Powers Agreement for a Drug Task Force, scheduling the County Board of Appeal and Equalization for Tuesday, June 14th, the resolution of K9 Loki to remain with handler Sgt Greg Payment, and an OJP Grant.

The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners will next meet January 25th from the Government Center Board Room.
