Area ATP Projects Get Federal Funding
The Northwest Reginal Development Commission is slated to receive federal funding for Area Transportation alternative projects are are to be constructed in 2027. The projects in Crookston, Fosston, Marshall County and Thief River Falls will receive 80 percent federal funding for trail alignment and extension projects. Local units of government provide 20 percent of the project cost and pay for the cost of engineering. The Fosston project will connect a new trail system on the east side of town with the trails around the fitness complex. The Thief River Falls project is to connect the east area of the residential portion of the city to Digi-Key and the the existing trails that travel on Greenwood. The Marshall County project improves the trail in the Marshall County Park near Florian. Crookston’s two applications partner between the city and school district for safe routes to the high school and elementary school while also connecting other points of interest. Funding will cover $1.1 million in work for four projects.
