Barnesville City Council Meets, Approves Permanent 4 Day Work Week
BARNESVILLE, MN—At Monday night’s meeting, the Barnesville City Council approved its preliminary budget for 2025. Barnesville City Administrator Jeremy Cossette tells R&J News there are still three unknowns when determining the budget: the contract with Barnesville Police, which is still being negotiated, higher values on City buildings after a new assessment by the League of Minnesota Cities, and planning for City employees who will be retiring. That’s why the preliminary budget levy was set where it was.
In other business, Cossette says the City of Barnesville will continue with a four day work week for City employees.
Cossette also says there will be a special Barnesville City Council meeting at 7am on Friday, October 4 about a prospective new business wanting to set up a TIF, or Tax Increment Financing district over a nine year period.
