CDC, MDH continue to recommend masks for full vaccinated, unvaccinated

(Aitkin, MN) — The Centers for Disease Control and Minnesota Department of Health recommend that people, both fully vaccinated and unvaccinated, continue to wear a well-fitted mask in some settings and situations.

In a post on the Aitkin County Public Health Education Facebook page, the new COVID-19 variants, such as Delta and Omicron, are different from past versions of the virus and spread more easily from one person to another. Both unvaccinated and fully vaccinated people may be able to pass the disease to others. 

MDH recommends wearing a high-quality mask to help limit the spread of COVID-19, including variants like Omicron. Examples of high-quality masks are N95 or KN95 masks. If you cannot get that type of mask, wear a well-fitting mask with at least two layers of tightly woven fabric. You can also layer a disposable mask under a cloth mask to increase effectiveness.

Other federal, state, or local laws may require masks, and businesses may set their own requirements.
