Deadly Snowmobile Accident in Aitkin County

Release from Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office:

The Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating another deadly snowmobile accident involving a 55-year old female from Rockford MN. 

Shortly after noon on 01-15-22, Susan Sutton was following family members on her 2021 Skidoo, riding on the Headquarters trail in Savanna State Park. The machine left the trail and collided with a tree, causing head injuries to Sutton. Sutton was wearing a helmet and lifesaving efforts were applied by family members and a passerby. Sutton was pronounced deceased at the scene at 1:42 p.m.  Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in this accident. 

Aitkin County was assisted by the MN DNR, McGregor Fire Department, the McGregor Ambulance, and Life-Link Air Ambulance Service.
