Deer numbers on the rise, waterfowl on the decline for Minnesota Fall hunting seasons
After a pair of harsh winters and other factors ravaged the deer population in 2021 and 2022, many are feeling more confident in the Northwest Minnesota deer population moving into the future. Minnesota DNR Northwest Area Wildlife Supervisor Rob Baden explains why he’s feeling confident in the deer herd moving forward.
Another species that has made a recovery over the last decade is the Bear population, and Baden tells us how this population has recovered, and how this has resulted in strong bear harvests recently.
However Baden is not confident in all wildlife populations, and he says hunters may notice significantly less waterfowl when in Minnesota’s wetlands.
