DNR offering grants through their Aquatic Invasive Species program

(Minnesota) — The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and their Aquatic Invasive Species Program will be offering grants for the control of AIS in 2022, which are being accepted now through Monday, February 21st at 9am.

Grant applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, and all on-time and completed applications will be considered for funding.

Some of the grants to do the Special Initiative for Lake Associations which is a one-time appropriation of $850,000.

Traditional Control Grants will have grant applications of $800,000 which would support control projects for curly-leaf pondweed, Eurasian watermilfoil, and flowering rush.

New Infestations and Innovative Control Grants will allow $450,000 to be made available to lake associations managing new infestations or have demonstrated a commitment to innovative control, long-term monitoring, adaptive management and management for other ecological benefits.

Two-Year Projects will have grant award maximum of $20,000 for two-project projects under a Traditional Control Grant and $50,000 for those under New Infestation and Innovative Control Grants as long as all grant work is completed before July 1, 2023.
