Dr. Wes Ofstedal to receive Distinguished Alumnus Award in Fertile
Dr. Wes Ofstedal from Fosston is this year’s Distinguished Alumnus Award recipient and will be honored at the Fertile-Beltrami Education Foundation banquet. The banquet is scheduled to be held on Monday, April 17th at 6:30 pm in the Fertile old gym. Ofstedal grew up east of Fertile on a dairy farm in the Rindal area and is the youngest of six children. Ofstedal graduated from Fertile-Beltrami High School in 1970 and continued his education at Moorhead State College where he graduated in 1974 with a degree in Biology. Ofstedal then graduated from medical school at the University of Minnesota in 1978 and performed his residency at Fairview and St. Mary’s hospitals in Minneapolis where he was chief resident. Dr. Ofstedal was named Community Physician of the Year for Essentia Health in Fosston in 2011 and also later won the Fosston Service Award. Ofstedal is now semi-retired and lives in Fosston with his wife Robyn and they have three grown children. Tickets to the banquet can be purchased for $20 at the Fertile-Beltrami school office and also at Encore in Fertile.
