Essentia Health-Fosston Receives Designation

FOSSTON, MN—Essentia Health-Fosston has been designated by the Comprehensive Advanced Life Support Program, also known as CALS, as a CALS hospital.  Stephanie McKnight, nursing supervisor at Essentia Health-Fosston, says CALS was one of two programs that prepares medical personnel for life-threatening emergencies.

Nina Bradfield, a physician assistant–emergency services at Essentia Health-Fosston, says hospital personnel have been certified by CALS in the past, this is the first time the hospital itself has been certified by CALS.

McKnight says Essentia Health-Fosston will now seek certification from the Minnesota State Trauma program.
