A renewed energy after halftime spurred the Thompson Tommies to a victory over the Hillsboro Central Valley Burros. Neither team found much offense success in the early portion of the game with the first five possessions ending in three-and-outs before the Burros Ben Thompson had a 43 yard carry near the end of the first quarter before following that up with a two-yard TD run on the opening play of the second quarter for the games first score. The 7-0 lead would stay that way into the third quarter when Thompson took an 8-0 lead on their first drive after halftime with a Josh Juve TD run giving them an 8-0 lead after the 2pt. conversion was successful. A 30-yard touchdown run for Ty Muller let the Burros respond to re-take the lead until the Thompson Defense and Special Teams made big plays. Firstly, Thomas Schumacher returned a punt for a 66-yard touchdown, followed by Cash Danner ending the next two Burro possessions with an interception to kill the drives and set up the Tommie offense for scores. A 12-yard Josh Juve halfback pass to Thomas Schumacher was followed by a Juve 62 yards TD run to put the Tommies up 28-14 and end the scoring. Thompson goes to 2-0 and will host EEK next week. Hillsboro Central Valley falls to 1-2 and will host Kindred next Friday night.
