Fertile City Council Meeting

At Monday night’s meeting, the Fertile City Council approved a data practice policy for people who want copies of public data.  Fertile City Administrator Lisa Liden:

Also at Monday’s meeting, City financial records show the City-owned Fair Meadow nursing home is running at a loss.  From October 2023 through May of this year, the nursing home is running a deficit of over $109,000.  Liden was asked if it was possible that Fair Meadow could get out of the deficit.

Liden says there has been no answer from Polk County on the City’s request for up to $500,000 in leftover COVID funds to go towards Fair Meadow.  She also said there’s been no progress on finding a permanent administrator for Fair Meadow.  It’s been approximately one year since the previous administrator, Angie Leiting, was given the choice of resigning or being fired.  Leiting has since filed a lawsuit against the City of Fertile, Mayor Dan Wilkens and Fair Meadow Nursing Home.
