Fischbach Co-Sponsoring Two Bills
Minnesota 7th District Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach is co-sponsoring two new bills in Washington. The first, which is co-sponsored by Minnesota Republican Brad Finstad, is called the Federal Agriculture Risk Management Enhancement and Resilience Act…or FARMER act. The bill will strengthen crop insurance and make higher levels of coverage more affordable. North Dakota US Senator John Hoeven has introduced a companion bill in the Senate.
The second piece of legislation is a Congressional Review Act that would overturn the Department of Health and Human Service’s mandatory nursing staff ratio rule. Fischbach calls the mandate “a half-baked, one-size-fits-none plan that will not solve the nursing staff shortage and will hurt nursing home facilities all across Minnesota’s Seventh District.” She goes on to say the Biden Administration knows that the new mandated ratio will force facilities to turn away patients or even close their doors altogether.
