Fisher Operating Levy Referendum Coming Tuesday
FISHER, MN—-Next Tuesday, voters in the Fisher School District will decide on raising the operating levy. Fisher Superintendent Evan Hanson tells R&J News about the referendum.
Hanson goes on to say why the operating levy needs to be raised.
Currently, the Fisher District’s operating levy comes to $161 per pupil. If passed, the new operating levy would be about $1432 per pupil. While that looks like a huge increase, it would put the Fisher School District closer to what other school districts in the region with similar enrollments have. For example, Kittson Central’s operating levy is over $3500 per pupil; Tri-County almost $2500 per pupil; and the Greenbush-Middle River School District is about $1200 per pupil.
Hanson says a simple majority is needed to pass this operating levy referendum. Election Day for the referendum in Fisher is this coming Tuesday, November 7.
