Frazee man dies from injuries suffered in swamp fire
On Wednesday, May 3rd at approximately 5:43 pm, a Frazee Firefighter advised the Becker County Sheriff’s dispatch of a swamp fire at 13290 440th Avenue near Evergreen. The reporting firefighter also observed a male coming from the area of the fire with what was believed to be 3rd degree burns. The firefighter advised dispatch of the burn victim and asked for fire departments and rescue services to respond to the scene. Prior to the arrival of emergency personnel, dispatch was notified that the burn victim had been taken to the Perham Hospital by private vehicle. The victim, Alvin George Schwarzrock, age 80 of Frazee, was treated at the Perham Hospital and later was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. The Sheriff’s Office was notified on the morning of May 4th that Schwarzrock had passed away. The Frazee Fire Department, Wolf Lake Fire Department, Minnesota DNR Forestry, Frazee Police Department, Minnesota Fire Marshsal’s Office, Essentia-St. Mary’s EMS and Life Link Air Ambulance assisted the Becker County Sheriff’s Office. The incident remains under investigation.
