Polk County, MN – Nathan Peterson gave the weekly FSA Report for Thursday, January 13th. He discussed the upcoming deadlines for the Emergency Assistance for Livestock Program (ELAP). The main purpose of the program is to provide financial assistance to producers for losses in 2021 due to the intense drought over the summer season. Since most of the reports centered around this program, Peterson explains the benefits of it and who can qualify.

All three programs under the Emergency Assistance for Livestock have the same deadline of January 30th, 2022. While this deadline is 12 working days away, it is important to schedule an appointment with the local FSA office to discuss the program if needed. The East Polk County office is still operating under limited hours, as it is open Thursdays and Fridays. Office will also be closed on January 17th in observation of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. A virtual meeting will be held on January 19th at 1 P.M. The 2021 Livestock Disaster Chat will cover the application process and additional supporting documentation. For those interested in attending, call the Beltrami office at (218) 751-1942.
