Hawley Fire Update
Here’s an update to a story R&J News has been following. Fire early Monday morning destroyed a grain elevator in Hawley. Firefighters were called at 11pm Sunday night; by the time they arrived, the building was engulfed in flames. 17 area fire departments helped put out the fire. For most of the morning, Hawley residents were asked to not use water because it would put a strain on the amount of water needed to put out the fire. Hawley City Administrator Lonnie Nuener updated R&J News Monday afternoon.
Neuner adds there are no reports of injuries. He says Hawley residents and businesses showed their gratitude to the firefighters.
Hawley Schools were closed Monday in order to help preserve water for the firefighters.
