Mahnomen Mayoral Race Has No Candidates
MAHNOMEN, MN—What happens when you have an election with no candidates? That’s something Mahnomen voters will deal with in November because no one filed to run for mayor. Mahnomen City Administrator Taylor Guenther says voters will have to write in their choice for Mahnomen’s next mayor.
At Monday’s City Council meeting, the Council voted to move forward with splitting the lot where Mahnomen’s public library, City Hall and liquor store are. Guenther explains the library and City Hall have a wall in common.
Also on Monday, the Mahnomen City Council did not take action on a proposed volleyball court at the City’s Mini Park. A vote to move ahead with the project failed on a 2-2 vote. Two Council members expressed concerns about having a volleyball court in that area and want to speak with the Tribal Community Council about those concerns.
