The Red River Valley is currently experiencing warmer than usual temperatures, and this weather mixed with other factors can lead to increased movement for deer, which can result in increased reports/complaints of deer in residential areas. Minnesota DNR Wildlife Supervisor Rob Baden says while this is mostly a result of living in Rural America there are some things you can do as a homeowner to cut down on the amount of deer activity in your neighborhood.

Baden says if deer do become a problem in your city or neighborhood he encourages you to reach out to him and report it.

While there have been reports of Chronic Wasting Disease in the area Baden said you shouldn’t worry about it being passed on to humans or pets.

People with questions about city ordinances pertaining to the feeding of deer and other animals should contact their local city office.
