Minnesota Department of Revenue sending out 2021 Tax Rebates
According to the Minnesota Department of Health they have started sending tax rebate payments from the 2021 year to eligible Minnesota residents. The rebates come from the projected $17 billion budget surplus.
Payments include $520 for married couples filing a joint return with adjusted gross income of $150,000 or less, $260 for all other individuals with adjusted gross income of $75,000 or less, and Another $260 for each dependent claimed on your return, up to three dependents.
Eligible recipients of the tax rebate include people who were a Minnesota resident in 2021, and taxpayers filled out a 2021 M1 or M1PR return by December 31, 2021. People who were claimed as dependents, taxpayers who died before January 1, 2023, married couples with a gross income over $150,000 and individuals with a gross income over $75,000 were not eligible for the refund.
Tax rebate recipients can expect to receive a direct deposit into their bank accounts or a check in the mail for those who have changed banks or don’t have direct deposit. Around $2.1 million in rebates are expected to be sent out.
