A group of Minnesota Legislators are attempting to pass a bill that would repeal the governor of Minnesota’s powers to declare an emergency. During a bill hearing in the House Military Affairs Division Bill Author Rep. Drew Roach (R-Farmington) told us more about his bill HF26, and why it was something he wanted to address.

There was some pushback from Rep Josiah Hill (DFL- Stillwater) in the bills hearing about whether HF26 would save lives as it’s intended.

Donald Kerr of the Minnesota Department of Military Affairs also shared his concerns with the bill, and said that the bill would have no effect on the governor’s authority over the National Guard.

The division hearing can be seen online at the Minnesota House of Representatives YouTube page at MNHouseInfo.
