Minnesota House GOP members discuss 2025 Legislative Session
It’s going to be an interesting year in the Minnesota House of Representatives, as the power balance is currently split with Democrats and Republicans each having 67 representatives. R&J News caught up with Minnesota Representatives Jim Joy (R-Hawley), and John Burkel (R-Badger), who say they are both excited about the upcoming session.
Rep. Burkel says that his main priority for 2025 is to invest in rural education, and get funding for these rural schools back on track.
Rep. Joy says his priority for 2025 is to get Minnesota’s “fraud problem” under control, and to lower income tax for residents in the bottom bracket.
A bonding bill is also expected to be a top priority for many lawmakers, and Rep. Joy shares his confidence in whether he thinks a bonding bill will be passed.
