Myers Elected to Hillsboro City Commission, Kritzberger and Richter to Hillsboro School Board
There will be only one new addition to the Hillsboro City Commission, but two new members of the Hillsboro School Board.
With all precincts reporting, Jon Myers has been chosen to fill the unexpired two-year term on the city commission, vacated by outgoing long-time commissioner, Dave Sather. Myers will join Paul Geray and Jason Pohlkamp who were reelected to the commission. There are also two newcomers to the Hillsboro School Board, as Cody Kritzberger and Brad Richter were elected to fill the two slots. Incumbent Mary Mattson, was third out of five in the school board voting.
As for the statewide primaries, current US Congressman, Kelly Armstrong, claimed victory in the Republican primary for Governor over Lieutenant Governor, Tammy Miller. Armstrong will face Merrill Piepkorn in November’s general election. As for the highly competitive US House primary, Public Service Commissioner, Julie Fedorchak, was the victor on the Republican side. She will square off against Democrat Trygve Hammer in November.
As for the measures, the Mayville Public Library got a boost as residents overwhelmingly (nearly 75% approval) supported a levy increase to fund the library. In another vast majority decision, Buxton residents approved the dissolution of the city’s park board. The dissolution will take effect at the start of 2025. Statewide, North Dakotans also overwhelmingly supported congressional age limits.
Overall voter turnout across the state was just over 20%, with turnout in Traill County at exactly 30%. All votes will need to be canvassed by their respective governing bodies before the results are finalized.
