Ada, MN — Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands, which can lead to dangerous and sometimes tragic situations.  To prevent that from happening, thousands of folks from across the country will have an opportunity to clean out their medicine cabinets and safely turn in those medications to the authorities for safe and anonymous disposal this Saturday, October 29th as part of the DEA’s National Drug Take Back Day. Ada Police Chief Steve Hager says once the drugs are collected, they will take them to be incinerated.

During the last Drug Take Back Day, Chief Hager estimates that they were able to collect and dispose of nearly 100 pounds of prescription medication.

Because of limited office hours on weekends, the Ada Police Departments asks community members who would like to dispose of unwanted medication to do so at anytime this week during regular business hours or contact the police department to make arrangements. The Norman County Sheriff’s Office also a drop box in their lobby available at any time.

Clay County will have deputies available this Saturday at the Ulen sub-station from 11am until Noon and at the Barnesville, Dilworth, and Glyndon police departments from Noon until 3pm.

You can find other drop off locations by going online to dea.gov/takebackday.
