Checking local elections in North Dakota….Hillsboro voters overwhelmingly approved a half cent sales tax increase to go towards a new fire hall.  591 people voted in favor of the new tax, with 185 voting against.

Incumbent State Senator Randy Lemm was re-elected Tuesday, defeating Democrat John Pederson with 67.2 percent of the vote to 37.2 for Peterson.

Both incumbents were re-elected to their seats on the Traill County Commission.  Kurt Elliott defeated Charlie Moen in District 2, while Larry Young defeated Todd Zimprich to retain the District 4 seat 

And Ryan Younggren defeated Daniel Gast 62.2 percent to 37.2 percent to win a seat on the East Central District Court bench to replace retiring Judge John Irby.
