Pool Opening in Hillsboro Moves Forward, Public Works Superintendent Backward
At the previous Hillsboro City Commission meeting, it seemed the months-long search for the city’s next Public Works Superintendent had finally come to an end. However, the position has reopened as Sheena Schmeets of Grafton has declined the position. Commission President, Levi Reese, gives the reason behind Schmeets’ decision.
There was one other finalist, but they did not show up to the final interviews, leaving Schmeets the only candidate. Despite the setback in the Public Works Department, Reese says there is positive direction in regards to the city pool.
The items the city is working on at the pool include improvements to both the pool road at Woodland Park and the slide.
Other approved action items included: $15,000 worth of tree removal with grant funding; a pair of permits; a change in dental coverage for city employees; and $2000 towards a fireworks display for the 4th of July.
At the end of the meeting, outgoing Commission Vice President, Dave Sather, also thanked the community for their support.
Jon Myers is set to take Sather’s place, beginning with the next meeting on July 1st.
