Protect your home from burglary
The busy spring and summer months are quickly approaching, and many across the region will be taking advantage of the warm temperatures and spending time away from their homes after being cooped up for the winter. This however can leave your home more exposed to burglaries. Polk County Sheriff Jim Tadman shares some things you do as a homeowner to better protect your home from unwanted visitors.
Tadman says doing something as simple as closing your curtains, unplugging your garage door opener, and investing in a small safe could also deter a thief from breaking into your house.
If you’re planning on being gone awhile, Tadman says you and your neighbors can also help each other out
Other things you can do to protect your home include investing in a home security system, making home entry points more visible from the street, and increased outdoor lighting.
