Rep. Fischbach’s Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women & Families Act Passes House
Here’s an update to a story R&J News has been following. The Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act co-sponsored by Minnesota 7th District Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach has passed in the US House. Thursday’s vote was 214 to 208. The bill would ensure that pregnancy centers cannot be excluded or restricted from receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, or TANF, funding. Fischbach spoke during debate in the full US House.
Fischbach says “the Department of Health and Human Services has proposed a rule that could restrict states from using TANF dollars for pregnancy centers and would encourage funding for facilities that provide abortions.” The bill now moves on to the US Senate.
