Rep. Gander On MN House Disruption
ST. PAUL, MN—As you may know, Minnesota House DFL members have boycotted House activities since the session began last week. This past Tuesday, a House committee meeting was disrupted by protesters who claimed the hearing was illegitimate because no DFLers were at the meeting. A foul-mouthed rant followed for 20 minutes. State Representative Steve Gander of East Grand Forks wasn’t at the committee meeting, but he took a dim view of the disruption.
The Minnesota Supreme Court has heard arguments on whether the House currently has a quorum with the 67 Republicans who have come to work. The DFL House members want to wait until a special election in March to fill a vacant seat before ending their boycott.
