Saturday Flooding Update

Minnesota Highway 200 west of Ada has been closed because of water over the road.  The National Weather Service has closed 200 between 9th Street West and 230th Street until further notice.

Also in that area, “Tobacco Road” south of the Norman County Fairgrounds in Ada is closed. And there is no entry into the Heart of the Valley Golf Course in Ada; that road is closed.

Meanwhile, Highway 9 remains closed south of Ada in both directions at the Wild Rice River.

And northbound Highway 59 south of Bejou has flooding between County Roads T184 and T41. That stretch of Highway 59 is NOT close, but drivers are asked to use extreme caution if traveling in that area.

Checking the latest flooding information as of 8:45 am Saturday from the National Weather Service:

The Wild Rice River at Twin Valley has receded to flood stage at 10 feet.  The water level had been as high as 12.5 feet Friday morning.  The Wild Rice River is expected to keep receding.

Over at Hendrum, the Wild Rice River is at 12.79 feet; that’s below the flood stage of 20 feet. But the river is expected to reach flood stage Sunday morning and peak at 29 feet by next Friday.

The Red River at Halstad is just under 15 feet.  Flood stage is 26 feet.  There are no projections yet on further flooding.

The Marsh River near Shelly is at 4.5 feet, but is expected to reach flood stage of 14 feet by 7 am Monday and peak at 15 feet by Monday afternoon.

In Hillsboro, the Goose River is at 2.25 feet…with flood stage at ten feet.

The Buffalo River near Dilworth is almost ten feet above flood stage at 22.64 feet…and is expected to get higher.  It’s expected to reach 25.5 feet by Sunday evening.  And in Hawley, the Buffalo River peaked at 9.8 feet Friday night.  The river level now is expected to slowly recede and get below flood stage on Thursday.
