Senate Leader Johnson reacts to Governor’s Proposed Budget
The State Budget is expected to be the biggest and most important thing coming out of the Minnesota Legislature this session. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz released his proposed biennial budget last Thursday, and some lawmakers have concerns. Senate GOP Leader Mark Johnson gives his initial reaction to the proposal, and raises some concerns he has with it.
One thing Senator Johnson says he would’ve liked to see in the proposal is a plan to combat fraud, especially as the state deals with the fallout of fraud like the Feeding Our Futures scandal.
The Minnesota House of Representatives have also caught headlines, as the House DFL Caucus has opted to skip the session until a powersharing agreement is reached. Johnson says he doesn’t see this instability affecting the Senate initially, but he does think it could affect them later on, once the Senate starts passing bills.
