SUV Strikes Culvert, Serious Injury Reported

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office reports an East Grand Forks area woman was injured in a single vehicle accident Tuesday, August 8th, in Sullivan Township. Tonya Marie Jenson, age 38, was seriously injured when the eastbound 2018 GMC Yukon she was driving entered the south ditch along 130th Street Southwest. The vehicle then struck a culvert that runs under 390th Avenue Southwest. Jensen was the sole occupant of the vehicle and had to be extricated from the vehicle and transported via ambulance to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. The East Grand Forks Fire Department reports that crews arrived on the scene to find the driver wedged into a culvert up to the third row. Sheriff’s officials responded to the scene just after 7:30 am. The case remains under investigation.
