Weird and Wacky Wednesday: “Don’t Mess With Texas…hot sauce”

A California man wants the makers of Texas Pete hot sauce to cough up millions of dollars — because their product isn’t from Texas at all. Phillip White bought a bottle of the spicy stuff in September of last year, and says he was shocked to find that it was made in North Carolina, which ruined the whole experience for him. White, who is asking for a major cash payout, also wants the company to change the sauce’s name because it “has cheated its way to a market-leading position in the $3 billion hot-sauce industry at the expense of law-abiding competitors and consumers nationwide.”  The hot sauce company’s owner said decades ago that the name was connected to a nickname for one of his sons.
