(Frankfurt, Germany)  —  A German man who found a nearly five-million dollar check made out to the company that makes Gummy Bears isn’t at all impressed with the reward he got.  The 38-year-old man, identified as Anouar, was on his way home from visiting his mother when he saw a piece of paper fluttering on the ground.  It was a check for about four-point-eight million dollars from a German supermarket chain to candymaker Haribo.  He contacted the company, whose lawyer told him to destroy the check, which he did and sent photo proof as the attorney requested.  For his honesty, Haribo sent him a gift box with six packs of candy.  He told a German newspaper he “thought that was a bit cheap.” Haribo says it appreciates what the man did, but adds, “Whilst we recognized that this was a crossed check that could not be deposited by anyone but the company this was addressed to, we were grateful that Mr. Anouar took the time to contact us and we were pleased to share a sweet gesture with him as a thank you.”
