Fischbach Votes To Impeach Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas
WASHINGTON, DC—Minnesota 7th District Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach was among those in the US House who voted to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas Tuesday night.
The 214-213 vote sends Mayorkas’ impeachment to the US Senate.
In a statement released Tuesday night, Fischbach said “Alejandro Mayorkas has refused to enforce federal immigration law, risking our national security. The American people are feeling pain of his failures every day, and he has lost their trust and the trust of the Members of the House of Representatives. House Republicans are following through on their commitment to hold the government accountable with our vote to impeach, and we will continue working to secure our borders and protect our national security.”
Republicans in Washington have focused on Mayorkas over the ongoing migrant crisis at the US southern border.
