Red Lake Falls, MN — The Win E Mac Patriots hung on to win a wild game over the Red Lake Falls Eagles 63-61 on Monday night.

Going into the game, both teams had nearly identical records, were evenly matched and the game played out evenly throughout. The first half saw eight lead changes and a 28-25 Red Lake Falls lead at the break but Win E Mac would respond taking their first lead of the second half at 34-33. From there the Patriots would go on a 12-2 run to take the largest lead of the game 46-35. Red Lake Falls wouldn’t go away putting together a 6-0 run of their own to make it 46-41 and take the lead 56-55. Both teams would trade blows in the final few minutes resulting in Win E Mac taking a 63-61 lead with 15 seconds remaining and giving Red Lake Falls the final shot. Red Lake Falls Sophomore Shandi Nelson, who had 38 points, would get an open look at a corner three pointer to take a lead with seconds to spare. However, her attempt would come up short and the Win E Mac Patriots would win 63-61.

With the win, Win E Mac improves to 6-18 with just one game left in the regular season on Friday versus Goodridge/Grygla. (96.7 FM KKCQ). Red Lake Falls drops to 4-19 and will be at Kittson County Central on Tuesday and finish their regular season on Thursday when they host Goodridge/Grygla. Tipoff set for 4 p.m. (96.7 FM KKCQ).
