Warren-Alvarado-Oslo vs. East Grand Forks Sacred Heart

Thief River Falls, MN — The Sacred Heart Eagles punched their ticket to the Section 8A Girls West Sub-Section Championship game with a 61-52 win over the Warren-Alvrado-Oslo Ponies on Saturday.

WAO controlled the scoreboard for the majority of the first half by as much as six points. Sacred Heart would make and 8-3 run to take a 14-12 lead that triggered a Ponies timeout. Sacred Heart would lead the rest of the first half but the deficit would never get any higher than eight points. Warren-Alvarado-Oslo would hang around and eventually make it a 28-27 game trailing by only one at halftime. Half number two was as exhilarating as the first half, with back and forth action on the scoreboard. Sacred Heart took a 49-46 lead with 4:30 left in the game and never trailed after that despite the effort from the Ponies. Sacred Heart would make their free throws down the stretch to eventually seal the victory and avoid the upset. Final score was 61-52.

Sacred Heart will play for the West Sub-Section Championship next Wednesday versus Kittson County Central. Warren-Alvarado-Oslo ends their season at 17-12 overall.
