Thompson connected on 57.7 percent of their shots, including 50 percent on three point shots, as the Tommies defeated Hillsboro-Central Valley 76-60 Monday in the Region 2 Class A boys basketball quarterfinals at Mayville State University.
Karter Peterson made nine of 12 shots (including 2 of 2 on threes) and blocked three shots, while Drew Overby added 19 and Brayden Wolfgram 12 as the Tommies jumped to a 24-10 first quarter advantage and never trailed after that. Although Hillsboro-Central Valley did cut the deficit to eight points early in the fourth quarter.
Landon Olson led the Burros with 17 points, while Jacob Brandt added 15. Hillsboro-Central Valley’s season ends with a 10-12 record.
Thompson improves to 12-10 for the year. The Tommies will take on Grafton, the tournament’s top seed, in the semifinals Tuesday at 5:30pm.
