Crookston, MN — The Fertile-Beltrami Falcons defeated the Stephen-Argyle Storm 59-44 on Thursday night to advance to the Section 8A Boys Basketball Quarterfinals.

It was a slow start for Fertile-Beltrami to begin with. It took the Falcons nearly four minutes to amass four total points. The slow start allowed Stephen/Argyle to hang around and gave Fertile-Beltrami fits for most of the night. Fertile-Beltrami would find some semblance of a rhythm on offense, taking a 30-17 lead into halftime. The Falcons would keep Stephen-Argyle at arms length for most of the second half up until around the seven minute mark where some sloppy turnovers piled on to each other and allowed the Storm to cut the deficit to single digits. It would be a 49-42 game with 3:30 to play seeing the Storm inch closer but Fertile-Beltram would outscore Stephen/Argyle 10-2 in the final minutes to win 59-44.

Fertile-Beltrami will play Sacred Heart in the first game of the day on Saturday at Ralph Englestad Arena in Thief River Falls during the Quarterfinal Round.
