MN State Senator Arrested In Detroit Lakes
There’s new information about a Minnesota State Senator who was arrested in Detroit Lakes early Monday morning. According to court documents filed Tuesday, Detroit Lakes Police were called around 4:45am Monday to a home near Granger Road and Long Avenue when the homeowner reported an intruder in the home and that the intruder had run into the basement. When Police arrived, they found 49-year-old Nicole Mitchell, a Democratic State Senator from Woodbury. She was dressed in all black. When she was arrested, Mitchell said she was trying to get some of her late father’s things because her stepmother no longer communicates with the family. Mitchell told police she wanted some pictures, her father’s flannel shirt, his ashes and other sentimental items. Mitchell is charged with first degree burglary. The Senate DFL Caucus has no comment on Mitchell’s arrest.
