Hillsboro Days 2024 in the Books

Hillsboro Days 2024 has come and gone and it was certainly a great success. Hundreds lined the streets of Hillsboro Thursday-Sunday, enjoying mainly sunny skies and strong winds.

Highlights throughout the weekend included a good showing of projects at the Traill County 4 H Achievement Day on Friday. Livestock entries included cows, pigs, goats, chickens, and ducks, as well as a special pet show. Inside the exhibit hall, the standard baked goods, crafts, and even quilts and lego art were on display. Even a computer made the list of Friday’s exhibits, winning a grand champion ribbon. Caleb Kloster of Buxton was behind the project. He shares with R & J News how he came to this project and some of the challenges he faced.

Later on Friday, KRJB served up over 250 root beer floats. Thanks to all who came out and said hi to Prestin and I. In the midst of all of the excitement in downtown Hillsboro was the car show. We got a chance to catch up with three of the owners, with interviews you can listen back to as part of our car show caravan series.

Saturday started out with another bustling parade down Caledonia Avenue. There were plenty of activities, contests, and events for the whole family throughout the day. Some of the highlights included the annual bean bag tournament at the Vets Club, which saw 22 teams of two compete. Speaking of teams of two, 18 total teams of two competed in the adult divisions of the Super Human pull at Woodland Park. Thomas and Peter Oanes won the overall title for the third straight year, pulling nearly 275% of their combined body weight!

There was plenty of great food and fun throughout the weekend, leaving another successful Hillsboro Days in the books. You can check out our Hillsboro Days 2024 photo album on our KRJB/KRJM/KKCQ Facebook page.
