Red River Valley at risk of Cercospora Leaf Spot
During the KRJB Farm and Field Show on Wednesday, R&J AG News Reporter Nick Revier caught up with Dr Ashok Chanda from the University of Minnesota Extension to talk about the Cercospora Leaf Spot (CLS) disease. Dr Chanda says there was a recent case of CLS in the Red River Valley and he explained why the region is at risk for more cases.
The cost of CLS prevention may be high, but Dr Chanda says the investment in the long term is worth it, and explains why.
Other than the higher risk of CLS Dr Chanda says this summer has been a “perfect environment for beets”, but does remind producers to be vigilant of their crop.
The full conversation with Dr Ashok Chanda can be heard on rjbroadcasting.com under the Farm and Field Show in the Farm News tab.
